Liman Galata Port inaugurated its new container terminal today, a €120 million investment that doubles the port's handling capacity. Covering 15 hectares, the terminal is equipped with six super post-Panamax cranes and a fully automated logistics management system.

This three-year project enables the port to handle up to 1.5 million TEUs per year, strengthening its position as a major maritime hub in the Eastern Mediterranean. The new facilities also include a 10,000 m² cold storage warehouse for perishable goods and a storage area for dangerous cargo.

"This terminal represents a key milestone in our development strategy," said port director Antoine Lopes. "It allows us to accommodate the world's largest container ships and offer reduced turnaround times of 30%."

The work also included modernizing land access routes and extending the main quay by 400 meters. The new terminal is expected to create 200 direct jobs and 500 indirect jobs in the region.
