Liman Galata Port Welcomes New Cruise Terminal
Liman Galata Port is taking a new step in its development with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art cruise terminal. Located at the entrance to the main basin, this 12,000 m² terminal can accommodate two large-capacity ships simultaneously, strengthening the port's position as a hub for maritime tourism in the Mediterranean.
The facilities include a spacious check-in hall, air-conditioned waiting areas, duty-free shops, and direct access to the docks. The terminal is equipped with mobile boarding bridges allowing for quick passenger embarkation and disembarkation. The work, which lasted 18 months, also included the modernization of adjacent port infrastructure, notably the deepening of the access channel to 14 meters to allow the passage of the largest cruise ships.
This project is part of the port's strategic plan to increase its reception capacity by 40% by 2027. The first calls are scheduled as early as April, with companies such as MSC Cruises and Costa Cruises having already booked regular slots. The terminal is expected to generate around 200 direct jobs and contribute significantly to the local economy.
Furthermore, electric shuttles will connect the terminal to the city center and main tourist sites, making it easier for visitors to discover the region. Electric vehicle charging stations have also been installed in the terminal parking lot.
